Licensed Parelli Professional™ Claire Adamson
If you ask anyone in my family how long I have loved horses they will reply “forever”! As a child I was “pony mad, but ponyless”. I dreamed of owning a pony and eventually after much begging my dad relented and we got Cammy- a wise old soul who fortunately loved to be dressed up as an Indian pony, be a mini Desert Orchid or wear flowers braided into his mane by his adoring owner.
We had some success at local shows and eventually got a second pony- Albert. Sadly he had not had the best start in life and was very challenging. If I knew then what I know now then things would be very different. He was my first “problem horse”!
Then blokes, Uni and work happened and I didn’t get another horse until Willow came along. A stunning 16.2hh WB mare by Dutch Gold she was totally hyped and I lost my nerve...completely.
I tried for two years to tame her- resorting to gadgets, harsh bits, calming supplements, the “livery yard experts” and still nothing. After numerous trips to A&E and finally being thrown from her onto a moving vehicle something had to be done...
So, after a bit of looking around I found Parelli™. I bought the kit and six months later I had a changed horse (oh, and I had made some changes too)! I was “the only Parelli™ in the village” which was tough at first- I had to defend my methods to many, but the results spoke for themselves! In January 2009 I was selected for the first Parelli™ Extern Program in Florida. I completed my time at the Horse Development barn and was awarded my 1* Junior Instructor status by Pat himself!
In 2010 I attended the 2* Junior Instructors course whilst completing another 14 week stay in Florida and have now been awarded my 2* Junior Instructor status which allows me to teach both the Online and Freestyle savvys in the Parelli™ Program.
I enjoy playing Parelli™ with my horses, going to Riding Club events and also doing some Western showing when I have time. I am currently owned by Jazz, a 6 year old Appaloosa mare and Leo an 8 year old Warmblood gelding. In addition, you may get to meet my “Assistant Trainer” Dora, my cocker spaniel who’s mission in life is to prove that I am definitely not a dog trainer!
